- and the brain behind the pilot...
The Autopilot Computer
This is the central unit in the autopilot system. Advanced
software algorithms process the input signals from all units
in the autopilot system, including navigation and wind data
from the GPS Chartplotter and the instrument system.
The output is a smooth and proportional control of the rudder
providing excellent steering performance in any sea condition
with a minimum of power consumption.
Tailor made connections
The AP16 and the AP25 series
can easily be inter-connected
permitting simple expansion.
Up to five control units may be
part of a system.
As a safety feature from one
location you can even lock out
all the other control heads.
AP16 comes with the well proven RFC35 Fluxgate
Compass as standard. The RC25 Mini Gyro
(rate compass) is optional.
RFC35
AC10/20/40
Outboards
System consisting of control head,
compass, autopilot computer, linear
feedback with interface and the small
hydraulic pump. On bigger twin engine
boats the AC20 computer and the
RPU160 pump may be required.
Inboards 30 - 35’
Similar system using a rotary feedback
linked to the rudder stock.
Inboards with Z-drive (I/O)
On I/O boats the feedback is built into
the I/O linear drive that sits on the valve
of the power assisted steering.
Power boats 35 – 40’
Abigger power boat needs a bigger
pump and may also prefer to have
a second station on the flybridge or
in the tower.
Sailboats 32 – 40’
The below deck autopilot offers
excessive power in the rough weather
and on the longer passages.
The mechanical linear drive requires
less space and has a built in feedback
that simplifies the installation.
Note: Always consult your Simrad dealer for advice
when you configure your autopilot system.
